General Notes: Husband – Thomas + Strickland

Judy Berndt notes that Thomas STRICKLAND was one of the first STRICKLANDS in
MO, marrying Eliza SHOCK in Boone Co. MO in 1826. The family record of Judy
Berndt names his mother as Zilpha SLOCUMB.

“The Thomas Stricklin family Bible in possession of Louise Stabler descendant
identifies the family unit and locates them Boone County, MO.”
Judy Berndt 2001 June 23 email

“Family tradition said he came from TN and census list birth place as TN
Written recollection from grandchildren of age to know first hand have named
his Mother as Zelpha Slocum. The History of Slocum, Slocumbs of America book
coming from the other direction said unnamed daughter of Joseph Slocumb
married Thomas Strickland. Census NC 1790 show Thomas Strickland and Joseph
Slokum to be very close neighbors.”
