    Hello,

I just came across an old post card I unpacked from family heirlooms. The postcard is an old photo of the Liberal Brick & Tile Co. of Liberal, MO.

It was among many post cards I inherited. I know that it belonged to my aunt’s husband’s family. My uncle by marriage, Fred Mellor. It must have been something from his family. It is so interesting to see such a large business. It has a hand-written signature at the bottom of a S.G. Mellor. I’m not completely sure if the second initial is a G., it just looks like maybe it is either a C or G in cursive writing. Curious to know if you may know something about it.

Hi, Gloria. S. G. Mellor is probably Fred’s father, Samuel Mellor, born in England, married Ann Rice. In 1870 and 1880 they’re in Gilpin Co., Colorado. He died 13 Aug 1899 and was buried in Mulberry, Crawford, KS, and in 1900, Fred had resettled in Barton Co., MO with his mother, siblings, and grandmother. All the children were born in CO. By 1910 an older brother, George, was working as a superintendent at a “brick plant”. I bet it was Liberal Brick & Tile and that his full name was Samuel George, probably after his father.
