Jessie was a daughter of David Nathaniel Brewer and Delana Louise Jane Fowler, and sibling of this blog’s Elizabeth “Bettie” Brewer who married Ray Noyes and resided in Liberal, Missouri.

Jessie was born 1888 Jan 10 in Barton County, Missouri, and died 1981 June 22 in Yakima, Washington. John Levy Jones, born 1883 Dec 28 in Missouri to Willieam C. Jones and Lutesia “Luttie” Steeley, died 1952 Dec 28 in Yakima. Both are buried in the Tahoma Cemetery.

They were married about 1905 in Everton, Dade, Missouri.

Levy and Jessie had four children:

1. Herman Chester Jones b. 1906 Sep 22 in Arcola, Dade, Missouri, died 1977 March 9 in Selah, Yakima, Washington.

Jessie’s certificate of death shows she was at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home when she died, her next of kin being her daughter, Mrs. Mary Smith, who was living at Rt. 4, Box 4334 in Selah, Washington. She was buried June 25, 1981, with Shaw & Sons Funeral Home at 201 N. 2nd St. in Yakima taking care of the funeral.

The funeral home sheet shows the officiating minister was Rev. Wendel D. Jensen, the organist was Mr. Reuben Ausink, the vocalist Eric Hillstrom. Songs were “Will the Circle be Unbroken” and “When We All Get to Heaven”.

She had 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and was preceded in death by her husband and 3 sons.

She was a member of the Selah Covenant Church.

Lewis Brewer with Mule Team in Dade County, Missouri

Lewis Brewer, b. 1880 May 19th in Barton county, Missouri, was a sibling of Bettie Brewer Noyes, and son of David Nathaniel Brewer and Delana L. Jane Fowler. This photo, contributed by Jim and Dieanna Swearngin, would likely have been taken in Dade County, Missouri, where Lewis lived. He died May 19, 1932 so we’re looking a date some time in the 1920s I imagine.

Lewis married Pearl Eva Jones on 1902 July 4 in Everton, Dade, Missouri. She died 1966 May 10. Their son was Clyde E. Brewer b. 1904 in Missouri.

The 1920 census shows Lewis in Pilgrim, Dade, Missouri, living not far from his sister Jessie Brewer Jones, married to Levy Jones.

The 1930 census again shows Lewis in Pilgrim, Dade, Missouri. He appears to be living next to his nephew, Davie Brewer, born about 1902, who was a son of Daniel Brewer and Rose E. Trent. Daniel Brewer was a son of David Nathaniel Brewer and Delana L. Jane Fowler.

If this is Lewis Brewer’s land, I’m wondering if that hill in the background isn’t instead an Indian mound. The shape is suggestive of one.
