Some incredible materials have been sent to me over the years–photos, letters, histories, poetry, and even an unpublished 19th century freethought novella written by an extended relation. What can seem like a minor story or trivial data may be precious information for another. I am also looking for stories and photos from individuals whose families were members of the Alphadelphia Association, as well as those were among the freethought settlers of Liberal, Missouri. It’s my assumption that these Fourier and Freethought individuals may have had ties with multiple utopian communities and I’d love to learn the histories of others, how their families got to Liberal or Alphadelphia. Also am eager to hear from individuals studying the McKenneys who originated out of the Belmont/Guernsey/Harrison/Monroe Counties of Ohio. Very few people seem to be doing research on these McKenney families and they had multiple, as yet unidentified (as far as I can find) siblings listed in the 1830 and 1840 censuses, yet by the 1850s it appears the McKenney name was already well on its way out of…

Welcome to the McClure-Mitchell Line page. Some of the ancestral Mitchell names are Baldwin, Black, Bromwell, Brooks, Butts, Carhart, Cowden, Craig, Denny, Dysart, Everett, Lord, Mitchell, Patton, Pettit, Phillips, Pyle and Stewart. Some of the ancestral McClure names are Brown, Bullin, Cameron, Crouch, Cummings, Emerson, Gates, Harris, Hastings, Hubbard, Jepherson, Learned, Leland, McClure, Newman, Sparhawk, Stearns, Stone, Warren and Whipple. Ancestral names in the Kearns family are Kearns, Crabtree, Faggard, Ranager, McAndrew, McNulty, Clark, Cox, Jones, Pye. These people largely settled in the Mobile County area of Alabama. Ancestral names in the Hennesy family are Clower, Breland, Bullock, Calhoun, Dillon, Everidge, Folsom, Hennesy, Kennedy, Knight, Lott, Miller, Mizell, Moore, Myles, Nobles, Pleasant, Richardson, Rodgers, Simmons, Smith, Thigpen, Welch, Williams. Alphadelphia Association
This website hosts a database I’ve put together of members of the Alphadelphia Association and documents on the Association. The Alphadelphia Association was a 19th century utopian community to which my Noyes family belonged. The database contains recorded members. If your family was involved in the Alphadelphia Association please consider contributing your data and family information as most has been lost. Access the Alphadelphia database here. Individuals in database The society at its peak had 188 recorded members on the domain and perhaps more than 300 including those living off site. For member sources I am going by a list of Shareholders provided to a Catherine Livingston, by the U. of Michigan, back in the late 50s, a list of holders of canceled certificates, and mentions in various articles of other participating individuals. The database I’ve compiled falls short of the number of members Alphadelphia had at its peak. Census records and other records at the U. of Michigan which would augment the list are not at my disposal.
