Thought it would be interesting to see what census data I could find on the family of George H. Walser, founder of Liberal, Missouri.<\/p>\n
George’s father being Mark Walser, in 1830 the family was in Langley, Dearborn, Indiana<\/p>\n

He mustered out 1861 Nov 3. He was also in the 43rd Regiment, Company I, Missouri Infantry. (His last wife, Esther J., applied for a pension listing both.)<\/p>\n
Mark Walser’s family is in Templeton, Atchison, Missouri in 1870. I don’t know yet who Sarah Strowery may have been who is observed in their household. George Walser is found in Lamar, Barton, Missouri with wife, Harriett, and son, Mark. As their son was born in Illinois, and George was living there when he joined the military, I thought perhaps he and Harriett were married in Illinois, but I don’t find a marriage for George Walser and Harriet Cunningham in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index.<\/p>\n
