They and family and neighbors had a kind of exodus from Harrison County, Ohio to Iowa in the late 1840s, another group of relations and neighbors moving a state further over to the Great Nemaha Reserve in Nebraska. A Jeremiah Shaffer, with the Shaffers, is presumed to be family of theirs, but how is not yet known. <\/p>\n
Jeremiah was born Nov 30 1820 in Harrison County, Ohio, and died Sep 1898 in Lynnville, Jasper, Iowa. He was married to Elizabeth Bartow, who was born Jan 10 1819 in Ohio and died Nov 11 1881 in Iowa. Elizabeth is either a sister or cousin of Mary Bartow, who married Robert Eugene McKenney. Perhaps someone will one day drop by this page with some further information on Jeremiah.<\/p>\n
\n
Shaeffer, George, (deceased); born April 14, 1791, in Bedford Co., Penn.; died May 18, 1875; in early manhood, moved to Harrison Co., Ohio; in 1845, to Van Buren Co.; up to that time, his business was that of carpenter; afterward, farmer.
