She and Milton resided in Franklinton, Washington Parish, Louisiana, and are buried at the Ellis Cemetery there.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/evermore.imagedjinn.com\/blg\/1752\/milton-burton-bateman-and-mary-elizabeth-simmons-bateman-photo\/batemanmiltonmary\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9202\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/evermore.imagedjinn.com\/blg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/batemanmiltonmary.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"batemanmiltonmary\" width=\"228\" height=\"316\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9202\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was a scan of a xerox image. I added a little sepia and dulled the grain.  The drapery in the background leads me to believe the photo was not made in a studio but instead perhaps at a fair or by a traveling photographer. We have a <a href=\"https:\/\/evermore.imagedjinn.com\/blg\/1745\/simmons-family-1911\/\">very similar photo of Mary&#8217;s brother, Lucius, and his family<\/a>, showing a drapery background in a natural setting and Lucius&#8217; wife Annie dressed in the same style as Mary.
